Driver of homemade three-wheeled vehicle dies in crash

ANGELINA CO. (KYTX) - An East Texas man is dead after he lost control of his homemade three-wheeled motorcycle Tuesday night.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) in Angelina Co. said 71-year-old Brian Patterson of Trinity was attempting to pull out on a highway when he lost control in a loose graveled area.

Patterson was thrown from the vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene.

DPS said Patterson was traveling at an unsafe speed. The fatal wreck occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 59 and FM 3439, about a mile north of Lufkin.

No seat belt or helmet were worn, according to investigating troopers.
