Belton Chamber Gets Ready for 90th 4th of July Celebration

Posted: Updated:
(KCEN) -- During an appreciation luncheon on Wednesday the Belton Chamber of Commerce discussed the upcoming Belton 4th of July Celebration and PRCA Rodeo. They've been working year round to organize the massive event that brings in around 50,000 people to Belton.

"It's great for our economy, our businesses and our citizens, and it's just a great time to celebrate," Chamber president Stephanie O'Banion said. "It is truly one of the events that bring quality of place to Belton."

The four day celebration will mark the 90th anniversary and has gained national attention and was ranked one of the best parades for small towns in years past. This year they're expecting hundreds of entries and floats, with nearly 30,000 coming to Belton to watch.

The three day PRCA rodeo also draws in quite the crowd with around 4,000 attending each night. This year rodeo operations director Keith Smith says they're kicking off with Military Night on July 3rd.

"This year we're adding some things like junior bareback riding and junior bronc riding," Smith said.

In addition to the crowd favorites there will also be a kick off BBQ on July 2nd, carnivals and festivals throughout the week.
