Waco Standoff Ends Peacefully

Posted: Updated:
(KCEN) Waco:  The suspect in a Thursday morning   standoff is now in police custody.

It happened near the 1100 block of 10th Street in Waco.

Police responded to a domestic dispute just after 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Officers chased the suspect on foot before he shot at them. At least one officer exchanged gunfire, but no one was hit.

The suspect barricaded himself in the nearby home of a relative. Police negotiated before sending several rounds of gas into the house. They entered the home and took the man into custody just after 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, after confirming he was no longer a threat.

The suspect already has four warrants out for his arrest. Police say he will face an assault charge for the domestic dispute, as well as an attempted capital murder charge for shooting at officers in the overnight chase.
