Accused Killeen Cop Killer Admits to Firing Shots

Posted: Updated:
(KCEN) – New documents are shedding light on what happened during the drug raid where a Killeen police officer was shot and killed.

On May 9th Killeen Swat served a search warrant for Marvin Louis Guy. During the early morning raid four officers were shot. Detective Chuck Dinwiddie died days later from his injuries. Two officers were protected by their gear, and another was hit in the leg.

In a newly released arrest affidavit, a Killeen police officer states he spoke to Guy after being arrested at the scene. It goes on to state “After being apprised of his constitutional rights, and waiving said rights, the suspect informed me that he shot at a number of persons outside of his residence before he was taken into custody”.

The one page affidavit also brings to light an issue surrounding the “no knock” policy. The original search warrant to raid Guy’s home was a “no knock” warrant, allowing officers to enter his home without announcing themselves first.

Since the death of Detective Dinwiddie,  community member including a former Killeen city councilman have asked the city to stop these warrants saying they are reckless.

While the warrant was a “no knock” warrant, the new affidavit states that officers “announced they were police officers while attempting to gain entry”.  It then states gunshots came from inside the home, four officers were shot, and then Guy admitted to firing at people outside his home.

Guy appeared in court on Thursday. A new attorney had to be appointed because of the capital murder charge. State prosecutors say there is a list of attorneys who are qualified and who are willing to take on capital murder cases. His current attorney was only qualified to serve as the second chair, or help to the main attorney. His new attorney is based out of Waco.

Guy currently faces three counts of attempted capital murder, and was just indicted on Wednesday for one count of capital murder.
