An arrest affidavit was released Friday afternoon stating David Gene Risner was arrested for the capital murder of Little River-Academy Police Chief Lee Dixon.

The affidavit states someone who identified himself as Risner called 911 saying he had shot a police officer at his home. When officers arrived, they found Dixon deceased on the front porch.

The affidavit also states autopsy results show Dixon was shot twice with a shotgun.

(KCEN) -- The Bell County Sheriff's Department has a suspect in custody following the shooting death of Little River-Academy Police Chief Lee Dixon.

Sheriff Eddy Lange has confirmed David Risner was booked in the Bell County Jail and charges are still pending.

(KCEN) -- Little River-Academy Police Chief Lee Dixon, the only full-time police officer for the small town, was shot and killed Thursday evening by a male suspect.

"Tragedy has struck our community," said Bell County Sheriff Eddy Lange.

The suspect was taken from the scene for interrogation. Lange hopes the DA will pursue capital murder charges.

Dixon's wife was at the scene in full uniform. She is a police officer in a different town.

Dixon left Little River-Academy to be a deputy for the Milam County Sheriff's Office. He returned to Little River-Academy earlier this year.

"He cared for people, he really did," said Lange.

Dixon's body will be sent to Dallas for an autopsy.

Bell County has lost four officers in the last year: two Killeen officers, one sheriff's deputy, and now Dixon.

(KCEN) -- A police officer has been shot in Little River-Academy.

Lieutenant Donnie Adams confirmed that a police officer was shot on Thursday afternoon.

The Chief of Police was called to Allison Street and West Main after reports of a man with a gun at 5:11 p.m.The officer was asked if he needed help first and responded no, but later called for backup. Not long after he called for backup that calls started coming in for a shooting.

The officer was shot, but his condition is unknown at this time.
