Fundraiser Held for Detective Charles Dinwiddie and Officer Odis Denton

Posted: Updated:
(KCEN) -- A fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday night for Killeen Police Detective Charles Dinwiddie and Officer Odis Denton.

Detective Dinwiddie was shot and killed in an incident just last month. Officer Denton was injured in that same incident. All of the proceeds will be going to the families of these officers.

The event is going to be hosted by the Posse Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. This is a group that consists of active, retired law enforcement officials from Central Texas.

The event organizers say hosting this is the least they can do for their brothers who've given the ultimate sacrifice.

"Those guys know when they put that uniform on and I know when I put my uniform on," President of the Posse Law Enforcement Club John Ivey said.

"It could be the last time I come home to my family and they just need to come out and support the public."

The event will be at the Harker Heights E-Center. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and will cost $15 to get in. There will be food, drinks and live music.

The club is already planning a similar fundraiser for Police Chief Lee Dixon's family.
