American Airline to offer first class seats out of Shreveport

Posted: Updated:

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTBS)- Tuesday, August 19, American Airlines will begin serving Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) using its Bombardier CRJ-700 series aircraft.

The new aircraft, which features 63 seats (nine First Class and 54 Economy), will be operated on two of seven daily flights to Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport (DFW). The flights, scheduled for less than one hour takeoff to landing, are currently scheduled to depart Shreveport daily at 6:00am and 4:35pm. From DFW, a plethora of domestic & international connections are available aboard other American, American Eagle (Envoy), or one world alliance partner flights. Tickets are currently available for booking at AA.com.

“We are thrilled that 2014 is shaping up to be a very successful year for Shreveport Regional Airport, as our passenger activity continues to rebound and airlines are responding to the growing demand by introducing larger aircraft into SHV,” said Bryant L. Francis, C.M., Director of Airports. “We have been working diligently to convince our airlines that this market can support more seats, larger aircraft, and additional nonstop destinations, and we’re encouraged by the move American is making to provide a higher level of service for our customers while increasing overall seat capacity.”

American Airlines will become the second airline to offer First Class service in the SHV market this year, after Delta Air Lines begins its First Class service to Atlanta, GA aboard 110-seat Boeing 717 jets on July 2nd. American Airlines is Shreveport Regional Airport’s second largest carrier, serving more than 180,000 passengers in 2013. American most recently began serving the Shreveport-Bossier region in 1982 after Braniff Airways ended its Shreveport-Dallas service.
