LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Longview Independent School District trustees voted 4-3 Monday night to stay their search for a new superintendent.

LISD is looking to hire a successor to Dr. James Wilcox, who plans to retire in January after about eight years as superintendent. In May, trustees unanimously selected LISD Assistant Superintendent Horace Williams as the only finalist for the job, but have not signed a superintendent contract with Williams.

Trustees voted Monday after more than an hour in closed session. LISD Board President Dr. Troy Simmons says the district is only halting its search. Williams remains the finalist for the job, and there is no restart for its superintendent search, he says.
