Update: Coors plant fire in Longview under control, one firefighter treated for smoke inhalation

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: LONGVIEW (KYTX) – At least one firefighter was treated at the scene of a two-alarm fire in Longview Tuesday.

According to Fire Marshal Johnny Zachary, firefighters have the blaze under control and are putting out hot spots.

Smoke was seen earlier billowing from the east side of the Coors Plant in Longview located in the 2000 block of East Cotton Street.

Traffic is blocked in all directions on East Cotton Street between Eastman Road and Old Gum Springs Road.

An employee tells CBS 19, there were workers welding inside a cooler when the fire broke out. Employees attempted to put the blaze out before calling firefighters.

Firefighters used chainsaws to gain access into a part of the plant where the smoke was billowing from. According Zachary, all employees were evacuated from the building.

Zackary says fire departments are helping support Longview Fire Department as it battles the Coors plant fire. According to public safety reports, Kilgore Fire Department is covering for firefighters at Longview Station 1 on Cotton Street, and Elderville/Lakeport Volunteer Fire Department is helping out at Fire Station 3 on Birdsong Street.
