(KCEN) – Baylor’s new McLane Stadium continues to take shape. Friday the university started putting down long rows of new turf.

In pictures taken by Nick Joos with Baylor’s Athletics Department, four strips of the new turf can be seen rolled out the width of the field inside the 860,000-ft. stadium.

Joos also sent out pictures showing progress being made on the seating section for the Baylor Line, the Bears’ freshmen cheering squad.

The $250 million stadium, which will seat 45,000 fans, is on track to be done by the Bears’ opening game against Southern Methodist University on August 31.

The school will hold an official media tour to update reporters on the progress of the stadium next Wednesday, July 2.
