12-year-old Boy Dies at BSR Cable Park

Posted: Updated:
(KCEN) -- A 12-year-old boy died Saturday at the BSR Cable Park near Axtell.

McLennan County Sheriff's Deputy Matt Cawthon said the boy went missing around 5 p.m. after being separated from his family. The family had been visiting the park from Dallas.

Cawthon said the boy had gone to another part of the park away from the cable park course. Police and emergency crews responded around 7 p.m.

The boy's body was found by an off-duty Waco firefighter and diver underneath a floating dock in that part of the park around half an hour later.
Cawthon said there was no lifeguard on duty in that area. The park is swim at your own risk.

BSR has been shut down for the night.

That section of the park where the boy's body was found has been drained. This is a developing story. We will continue updating this page as we receive more information.
