We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

TYLER (KYTX) -  It's summertime... The kids are out of school and many families are spending more time at home.  Companies realize this- and that's why you may notice an increase in door-to-door soliciting this time of year.

In the City of Tyler, salespeople cannot knock on your door before 10 am or after sunset. You can call the police if they do.

If you still want to keep solicitors away during the daytime, place a "no soliciting" sign outside your home or in your window.  According to the Better Business Bureau of Central East Texas, solicitors are not even allowed to ring your doorbell if you have one posted.

Tyler father, Jay Patel, says he's noticed an increase in door-to-door sales lately.

"In the last week, it's picked up. Actually, yesterday we had two people drop by and try to sell us some magazines, I believe. But, I tell them right away that i'm not interested."

Patel says he teaches his children to never open the door to strangers during the day.

Always call police if you feel threatened or unsafe, especially if someone is knocking on your door early in the morning or late at night. And, remember to keep your doors and windows locked- even when you are at home.
