McLane Stadium Opens In 60 Days

Posted: Updated:
(KCEN) -- The countdown to kickoff continues at Baylor's new McLane Stadium. The riverfront facility is now about 97 percent complete. All the seating has been put in and most of the field's turf has been laid. The stadium's state-of-the-art canopy and jumbotron are also complete.

A lot of progress has also been made on the indoors. The stadium’s main locker room is finished. It features 120 lockers and has a red shirt locker room adjacent to it.

Officials with Baylor's athletic and facilities departments said they're ready for game day.

“Very pleased at where we are in the project, 96 to 97 percent done, and like I said earlier, we're just geared up to figure out how we're going to run it now,” said Brian Nicholson, Associate Vice President for Facility, Planning and Construction.

“It'll be interesting to see, you know, how many kids want to come out every single game just to take part in this,” said Associate Athletic Director Todd Patulski.

The stadium will open to the public for the first time on Thursday, August 28 for a traditions rally. The first game of the season will follow on Sunday, August 31.
