One Person Dead After Fireworks Accident in Comanche

(KCEN) -- One person is dead and three others were injured after a fireworks accident in Comanche on Thursday.

The fireworks explosion happened on a baseball field at Comanche High School on Thursday morning.

Comanche police said that the explosion occurred as a crew was setting up the fireworks for the annual firework show on Friday.

Friends and family confirmed that the man that was killed is Dr. Russell Reynolds. He was a local chiropractor and a member of the Kiwanis Club. Reynolds was said to have been involved in nearly every community event including the Fourth of July fireworks show. 

Eddie Parker and Rex Plumley were injured in the fireworks explosion. The third person's name has not been released at this time. All three are being treated for burns at a local hospital. 

As a result of the explosion, the fireworks show has been cancelled. 

The Comanche Chamber of Commerce posted on their Facebook page, "Due to tragic circumstances the 4th activities have been cancelled for 2014."
