90 Day Challenge Week 7: Justin's Update

Posted: Updated:

TYLER (KYTX) -- Let's talk jump rope. We did it as kids on the playground and boy was it fun! It's not quite as fun when you're a 36-year-old man recovering from a broken leg and ankle. But something very interesting happened to me this week.

As you know Gillian and I have been training with Tony Cruz at XTC fitness in Tyler and he's been working hard to improve our overall strength including our legs. Three days a week we do high-intensity workouts and jump rope is sometimes part of them. When I first started it was extremely difficult. I'm cleared to put impact on my leg but it was weak. The impact hurt. And I was exhausted before I could finish the entire set. I'm happy to report that this week I completed 100 without stopping and I wasn't drained or hurting afterward. It may not seem like a major accomplishment to many people but to me it's proof that the work has paid off. And I am thankful to Tony for helping me reach that point and Gillian for encouraging me along the way.

I have also been an avid runner much of my life and now I'm able to do it again. This week I've been able to incorporate more running into my workouts. And I've even started working out twice a day a couple of times a week instead of just once.

The meals we're eating from Let's Cook in Tyler are tailor made to provide us with the rightamountt of nutrients we need each day to keep our bodies running and lose weight. They're also loaded with protein. I have a lot more energy and I'm noticing some substantial muscle growth thanks to the increased protein intake.

Thank you for checking on me! I will have another update next week!
