EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Happy Independence Day!

While Hurricane Arthur continues to churn near the Outer Banks of North Carolina.. we’re dealing with much calmer conditions here in East Texas this morning. Mostly sunny skies with only a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm or two this afternoon/evening. Highs today near 90. Lows tonight will drop to 69.

Sunny and warmer conditions will be the theme over the holiday weekend with highs reaching 92 both Saturday & Sunday. As the bubble of high pressure over the western U.S. builds overhead next week, temps are expected to reach 93-95 through next Friday. With only isolated afternoon/evening thunderstorms in the forecast, drying conditions and hotter temps will make it feel more like July for the bulk of next week.

Have a great and safe holiday weekend!
