(KCEN) -- Two Waco Police Officers are being called heroes after saving a 7-year-old boy who couldn't swim from the Brazos River on Friday. According to the Waco PD Facebook page, the boy fell into the river around 7:30 p.m. while attending Waco's Fourth on the Brazos 4th of July celebration and firework show.

Officers Dennis Taylor jumped into the water to save the boy. Officer Daniel Harper then helped Taylor, who jumped in with about 25 pounds of gear, and the boy out of the water.

The boy was transported to Hillcrest Hospital for precautionary measures but is expected to be okay.

Officer Taylor changed into a dry uniform and both officers continued working the event.
