(KCEN) -- Former "Hi-Five" singer Russell Neal is in the custody of Houston Police facing felony charges for murdering his wife.

Houston Police Officer Richard Ridel says Neal turned himself into police on Wednesday, July 2, saying he and his wife had got into an argument and that she was dead.

The Houston Fire Dept. forced entry into Neal's apartment where they found Catherine Martinez dead from multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma.
Neal has a three and a 4-year-old son with Martinez. Police aren't sure if the children were at the apartment at the time of the crime or not. They're currently in the custody of Neal's mother.

Neal was a founding member of the early 1990's R&B group that was based out of Waco. He hasn't been a part of the group since the early 90's.

Hi-Five attorney Debbie Engel said in statement the situation is currently under evaluation and Neal wasn't a part of an upcoming project other previous members of the group 'Hi-Five' are working on.

'Hi-Five' is best known for chart topping hits "I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)" and "I Can't Wait Another Minute."

Neal remains in jail on a $100,000 bond.
