Four Taken to Scott and White, Semi Split in Half after I-35 Accident

 (KCEN) -- Four people were sent to Scott and White with non-life threatening injuries after an accident involving a semi-truck and an SUV happened a little after 2 p.m. on I-35 near mile marker 308 south of Troy.

The Troy Police Dept. says a blue Ford Expedition going southbound hit the semi-truck when it went into the outside lane. The semi-truck had tried to swerve to miss the SUV but both vehicles ended up colliding and crashing into the access road.

The 43-year-old woman driving the Expedition and had been trapped inside of the car. She was medivaced to the hospital. Two other passengers in the SUV were also taken to Scott and White by ambulance.

The semi-truck involved in the accident was split in half.  The driver was also taken to Scott and White by ambulance. The truck had been transporting apple juice. The contents were scattered all over the road. Clean-up could take up to four hours.   

Southbound traffic is backed up for about four miles. Delays should be expected throughout the evening.

The Troy Volunteer Fire Dept., DPS and the Temple Fire Dept. are working the incident.
