Suspect Surrenders in Slayings of Four Children, Two Adults in Texas

(KCEN) -- A Houston man in now in custody after deputies say he shot and killed six people, including four of his own children..

The alleged gunman finally surrendered Wednesday night after a standoff lasted for hours.

The domestic dispute occurred in the Houston suburb of Spring.

The suspect is accused of shooting a thirteen-year-old boy, a 4-year-old boy, a 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old girl.

They are all his children, a mix of his biological and adopted children.

Two adults were also killed.

His fifteen-year-old girl was shot in the head, but she was taken to the hospital in critical condition..

The suspect fled the scene and led deputies on a 30-minute chase for more than three miles.

"I guess he was looking for a way out of the neighborhood or something. And he went straight for the cul-de-sac, I guess he didn't know it was a cul-de-sac. And then I saw all the police just fly by," said witness Caleb Casas.

Negotiators were able to get the suspect to surrender peacefully.

Ron Lee Haskell, 33, was charged with capital murder.

(KPRC) - Deputy constables say at least five people have been killed in a shooting during a domestic dispute in northwest Harris County and a standoff is underway with the gunman

The shooting happened late Wednesday afternoon in the 700 block of Leaflet in the Spring area. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office says a man shot seven people, killing five of them.The suspect, who deputies say is a relative of the victims, fled the scene.When emergency crews arrived, deputies say a woman with a gunshot wound to the head was able to tell them who the shooter was and that she believed he was headed to another residence at Anvil and Ella to possibly attack more family members.

But law enforcement officials intercepted the suspect and he took off. The suspect led deputies on a 30-minute chase until he drove into a cul-de-sac at Countrymeadow and Country Canyon.The suspect is sitting in his vehicle surrounded by deputies with guns drawn and at least a dozen patrol cars.We're told a hostage negotiator is headed to the scene.
