(KCEN) -- With the rising cost of ammunition, a visit to the gun range can be expensive, but a new business in Waco is offering simulated fire arm training to the public.

Lorena Fire Department Captain Jay Fonville is already a regular at H5 Tactical. "Even though I'm a firefighter, it gives a lot of situational awareness to individuals out on a scene," Fonville said. So he takes every opportunity to improve his response to emergencies. "We can talk about it, but here it makes you look at and further broaden your eyes, your vision and heightens your senses."

H5 Tactical offers over 700 different scenarios. Everything from home invasions to road rage violence -- and with life-like video and technology. The guns are real, but have been modified for simulation. They even have a slight kick back.

Owner Billy Hughes is a part of the McLennan County Sheriff's Office. Hughes wanted to offer the training they receive to everyone. A part of that is teaching people the difference between shoot and don't shoot situations, especially for customers who keep a gun at home for self-defense. "It causes you to think about these situations and be aware of it and really start to learn the parameters of owning and using a firearm," Hughes said.

Customer Rolando Vega is very familiar with guns because he teaches concealed handgun license students. But he says that even he can use the extra training. "It makes me more conscious, especially because I carry a firearm with me most of the time," Vega said.

H5 Tactical is located at 3707 Franklin Avenue, Waco, Texas 76710. Hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
