People think Steven Spielberg killed a Triceratops

(KXTV)- The Facebook post was clearly a joke seeing that dinosaurs no longer exist.

But, the comments raise some concerns about how aware people are of that fact.

Jay Branscomb posted a photo of Steven Spielberg, on the set of Jurassic Park, sitting in front of a Triceratops on his Facebook page on July 6.

Under the photo is this caption:

"Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a Triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame this despicable man."

The post harkens to a Texas cheerleader who uploaded pictures from a hunting trip in Africa on Facebook earlier this month. Nineteen-year-old Kendall Jones, who went on her first big game hunt to Africa when she was 9, started an uproar across social media sites.

It prompted a South African to post a petition on change.org calling for Jones to be banned from African states.

From Brancomb's joking post some comments were clearly humorous:

"Poor animal! Triceratops are endangered! Soon they will be gone like the dodo bird and ET, the Extra-Terrestrial."

"For all of the anti-hunters out there, This was a meager minor sized tri-top. I shoot Brontosaurus 15 times as tall..."

Then, there are the comments where you really hope the person is joking:

"That's disgusting. killing an innocent animal! Is that some kind of Bison/Bull? It's huge!"

"Why are people so uptight about the smallest [expletive]?!?!?! ...If you don't like it, don't look at it!! We have bigger problems to deal with!! Get over yourselves!!! SMH!!!"

Of course, you have people replying to the questionable comments:

"OMG you stupid people!!! This animal is NOT real! It is an animal which lived like 66 million years ago! This is a model for the film! Some people are so ignorant!"

"Let hope that one day stupid becomes extinct. My 5 year grandson knows that dinosaurs no longer exist."

A lot of comments also questioned if people were joking:

"I'm trying to stay positive and believe that everyone is just playing along, but there comes a point after reading a bunch of these comments I kinda feel like I want to cut the internet out of my life to avoid people with low IQ's all in one place."

"I can't tell who's kidding or who's being serious anymore."

You're not alone.
