Arrest made in Troup Shooting

UPDATE: TYLER (KYTX)- July 16 around 2:30 p.m., Smith County Sheriff’s Office detectives executed an arrest warrant for Quashunn “Quacky” Mitchell, 19, in connection to a shooting that occurred on the 19000 block of CR 2343 north of Troup.

Mitchell was arrested at an apartment complex on WNW Loop 323 in Tyler.

The arrest warrant was signed by Judge Randall Rodgers.

Mitchell is currently being booked into the Smith County Jail. He is being held on a $200,000 bond for a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.


TROUP (KYTX)- 8:50 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, the Smith County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a 911 call stating that multiple shots had been fired in the 19000 block of CR 2343 north of Troup.

Smith County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the call along with EMS and officers with Troup Police Department, Arp Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Officers arrived on scene to find two male victims, ages 38 and 48, who had been shot in their legs. The victims were transported by EMS to a Tyler hospital where they received treatment for their injuries.

Witnesses stated that the shots were fired following an altercation involving one of the victims after which the suspects fled the premises.

At this time the investigation is ongoing, and more details will be released as they become available.
