2 killed, 3 injured in head on collision in Upshur Co.

UPDATE: HARMONY (KYTX) - A wreck just outside of Harmony has killed two. Texas DPS tell CBS 19 that 30-year-old Anibal Munoz along with 16-year-old Brody Stuart were killed.  

According to Texas DPS, the wreck occured at 8:50 and was likely caused by wet road conditions. A 2003, white Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling east towards Gilmer while a 2005 Ford Mustang was traveling west. The driver of the Mitsubishi, Munoz, lost control and hit the Mustang. 

Three others were in the Mitsubishi with Munoz, Rodolfo Macario was rushed to Longview Regional and is currently in stable condition. Francisco DeLeon Munoz was rushed to Good Shepherd Medical Center and is still in critical condition.

Brody Stuart was driving the Mustang and died on the operating table at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. Doctors could not control his internal bleeding and pronounced him dead at 12:48. Haley Blackstone was his passenger and has been released with a broken arm. 


HARMONY (KYTX)- Haley Blackstone and Brody Stuart were on their way to cheer practice in a white convertible and a blue mustang in the on-coming lane hydroplaned, spun multiple times and hit Stuart's car on driver side head-on. 

Emergency crews took around an hour to get Stuart out of car and immediately took him to Gilmer branch of ETMC hospital. 

Driver of other car was pronounced dead at the scene, three older guys that were passengers have been taken to different hospitals

Stuart had both legs broken and broken arm. He was listed as critical condition at ETMC. While preparing for surgery, doctors found internal bleeding and could not stop the bleeding, Taylor Morris head cheerleader at Harmony HS tells CBS 19. 

Stuart was pronounced dead at ETMC at 12:40 p.m from a massive head injury says Smith County Justice of Peace.

Stuart would be a senior this school year.

Blackstone has been released from hospital and recovering at home. 

Memorial service for students at Harmony HS gym 6 p.m.


(UPSHUR CO.) - Two people are dead, and three are hospitalized in critical condition following a head-on collision Thursday morning on Hwy 154 at the Upshur/Wood County line.

Texas DPS reports one of the victims was a 17-year-old teen. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and another person died at a Tyler Hospital.

Gilmer FD LT. Colby Henderson says a convertible and an SUV were involved in a head on collision just after 9 this morning.

No names are being released but 5 people were in both cars.

There are unconfirmed reports that two victims were school Cheerleaders

DPS is expected to release more details later today.
