LONGVIEW (KYTX) - The City of Longview Partners in Prevention will sponsor Rising out of the Thicket Zombie 5K Fun Run/Walk to benefit the Coalition for Drug Free Youth.  The undead outbreak will occur Saturday, October 25, 2014 at McWhorter Park, 1000 Toler Road.  Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the fun will start at 9:00 a.m. Zombies/Survivors may pre-register by going to the city website, LongviewTexas.gov. http://pip.longviewtexas.gov/5k-zombie-fun-run-0. The run/walk is family-friendly; participants of all ages are welcome to join in the fun. Participate in plain clothes as “survivors” choose to dress in zombie costume.

Volunteers will be encouraged to “Give brains or blood!” Carter Blood Care will be onsite for our “undead” blood drive!  Longview Community Ministries will be on-site for our Zombie Apocalypse Survivor Food Drive.

The Rising out of the Thicket event proceeds will benefit the Coalition for Drug-Free Youth, to assist in their initiative to prevent underage drinking and drug use.  The Coalition also supports the annual Red Ribbon Week campaign.
