Trial postponed 7th time for Diana man charged with solicitation, assault

Posted: Updated:
LONGVIEW (KYTX) - A criminal trial for an Upshur County man has been postponed a seventh time.

Gregg Lee Haden, 39, of Diana, was indicted in July 2011 by a Gregg County grand jury for online solicitation of a minor. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.

According to Longview police, he was arrested in April 2011 at a location on Alpine Road, where he thought he was meeting a 14-year-old girl. Officers said Haden had texted with who he thought was a 14-year-old girl for at least two days to engage in sexual intercourse.

Haden's attorney, Clifton "Scrappy" Holmes, has filed a motion to quash the indictment, according to Gregg County District Clerk records. That motion was scheduled to be heard Wednesday, and if it was denied, Haden's trial was scheduled for Sept. 15. However, 124th District Judge Alfonso Charles reset the trial date to Oct. 20, and will hear Holmes' motion on Sept. 23.

Haden also faces two separate indictments for sexual assault of a child from February 2013. Trial dates on those charges have not been set. He's out of jail on $150,000 bond.
