Even with all of her world travels, Lisa considers Texas her home. A t the state pageant that summer, Lisa won the Overall Evening Gown and Preliminary Talent Award, plus the coveted title of Miss Texas 2002.  As Miss Texas she went on to compete in the Miss America Pageant, where she placed as a Top Ten Finalist and won a Preliminary Interview Award.

During her year as Miss Texas, Lisa spoke to more than 100,000 young Texans about the importance of respecting themselves and others, as well as the importance of volunteerism and giving back to their communities.  Lisa made approximately 400 public motivational speaking appearances during her year of service.

Lisa received her Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Texas A&M University.  But before embarking on her career in television, she worked for Shell Oil Company in Houston.  Lisa began her work at CBS 19 Eyewitness News in September of 2005.  She then worked her way up to anchor the Primetime at 5, 6, 6:30 and 10pm newscasts.  Now Lisa is up for a new challenge:  anchoring CBS 19 This Morning in HD with Bryan Houston and Scott Fossey.

Before joining the CBS 19 Eyewitness News Team, Lisa worked in two Houston-area television markets.  She began her journalism career as the main anchor at the station, KC3TV, which is based in her hometown of Kingwood.  And more recently, Lisa worked at KBMT, the ABC affiliate in Beaumont, as a reporter and substitute anchor.  During her years at KBMT she won several awards, including a Southeast Texas Press Club Award for outstanding breaking news for coverage of a daycare center fire, as well as a Texas Media Award from the American Cancer Society for her story on "Seed Net Cryotherapy."  Most recently, Lisa was part of the team recognized by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters for Spot News Coverage and Team Anchoring, as well as named "Best News Source" for 2008 and 2009 by BScene Magazine.
