Kilgore Police 'Pit Crew' helps stranded drivers on I-20

Two sets of families got back on the road over the weekend with a little help from the Kilgore Police Department 'KPD Pit Crew'.

This past weekend, two families were able to get back on the road to their destination with a little help from Kilgore police officers, aka 'The KPD Pit Crew'.

One family was on I-20 headed from Dallas to Arkansas and got a flat tire. Sgt. Callahan, Officer Owings and Officer Middlebrooks stopped to help, and soon realized the spare tire was also flat. With a few phone calls and donated funds the KPD Pit Crew purchased and installed a used tire and send the family on their way.

During the first incident, officers spied another distressed traveler on I-20 with a flat tire. Officer Pierce and Sgt. Callahan deftly changed the tire and sent the single mother with several kids on their way as well.

"These Officers received a set of Dog Tags for their service and compassion," the Facebook post reads.

Well done, Kilgore PD. Thank you for continuing to serve your community!
