Darcy Birden joined the CBS19 News Team as a multi-media journalist. She is a born-and-raised Dentonite, before moving to DFW where she worked as a writer and assignments editor for CBS 11.
Darcy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Converged Broadcast Media from the University of North Texas. While attending she also earned certifications in Television News Producing and Media Management. While pursuing her certifications, Darcy studied abroad at the University of London learning the impact and coverage of news overseas during Brexit.
One thing Darcy is very passionate about is the foster care system and children with disabilities. She attributes this to her family. Her family is active in working with foster care and even adopting children. Darcy personally volunteers with North Texas Angels, an organization that works with kids with disabilities and terminal illnesses.
When not at work Darcy loves to read, play volleyball, and work out. You will probably see her running around town training for her next marathon. Since she is burning all those calories you can bet on her being a real foodie. She loves cooking, and trying new recipes and restaurants.
A fun little fact about Darcy is how much she loves animals. She grew up on a farm with, not your normal farm animals, such as an ostrich, because of her love for animals her family gave her the nickname “Darcy Dolittle”.
