It's the holiday season and as the Edgewood Independent School District Police Department in San Antonio conducted traffic stops, they surprised drivers with a gift instead of issuing citations.
Daniel Cortez wrote on his Facebook page that he was approached by Edgewood ISD Police Chief Quiroga while being pulled over for a traffic violation.
Cortez says Chief Quiroga explained how he failed to make a complete stop at a stop sign and was on his phone.
What happened next came to a complete surprise to Cortez.
"Here's the thing, it's Thanksgiving time. So instead of giving you a citation, how would you like a turkey?" Chief Quiroga said.
"Yes sir, that would be a much better option," Cortez replied.
Quiroga's partner handed Cortez the turkey and snapped a picture.
"I of course obliged and they let me go with a huge turkey," Cortez said.
