One man is dead after an early morning shooting in Tyler. It happened Friday on East Lawrence Street.

Tyler Police identified the victim as 22-year-old Joshua Alon McGee, who died from a single gunshot wound.

Police recieved a call at 7:46 a.m. from Christus Mother Francis, notifying them someone was shot, brought in by a private vehicle.

McGee died at the hospital.

"We don't think it's just a random shooting," said Tyler Police spokesperson Don Martin.

He said there was a blood trail in the home, making it clear the murder happened somewhere around the home. The exact location has not been released.

Neighbors tell CBS19 the neighborhood is usually quiet.

"You wouldn’t think anything like this would happen in this neighborhood because this is a good neighborhood," said Shedrick.

He was getting ready for his morning workout when he saw police cars outside.

Investigators believe narcotics are related to this shooting and are searching for anyone involved.

Police are investigating a homicide that happened around 7:30 a.m. Friday morning in Tyler.

According to Tyler Police Department spokesperson Don Martin, police received a call about a gunshot victim at a local hospital. The victim was transported by a private vehicle, and he later died from his injuries.

Investigators were able to track the location of the shooting to the 1500 block of East Lawrence Street and are looking into what happened.

The victim is a black male in his 20s and his name has not yet been released.
