Smith County Sheriff's Office is looking for a suspect they say shot three people stopped on a road with a flat tire.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. August 6 on County Road 246 near Highway 31 East.

Police arrived to find three people injured and they were transported to a local hospital for treatment. A fourth person who was not injured told investigators that the group had pulled over because of a flat tire and had tried to flag a person for help.

A driver in what might be a gray Jeep Cherokee stopped, then a passenger got out and shot at the victims. The shooter got back into the Cherokee and fled the scene.
