LIST: East Texas school districts delay, cancel classes due to widespread power outages

TYLER, Texas — Due to the severe storms that hit the East Texas region resulting in power outages, multiple school districts have decided to delay or cancel classes on Thursday.

The following schools have pushed back their start times or canceled classes altogether:

  • Chapel Hill ISD - Delayed until 10 a.m. on Thursday
  • Elkhart ISD - Delayed until 10 a.m. on Thursday
  • Westwood ISD - Delayed two hours on Thursday
  • Brownsboro ISD - Classes canceled for Thursday
  • Carlisle ISD - Classes canceled for Thursday
  • Kilgore High School - Classes canceled for Thursday - All other campuses will report as scheduled (All high school students participating in any extracurricular activities such as track, baseball and softball, should arrive for participation at normal times.)  
  • Elysian Fields ISD - Classes canceled for Thursday
  • San Augustine ISD - Classes canceled for Thursday
