A homicide in Marion County is under investigation after police discovered evidence of blunt force trauma on 46-year-old Tonya Roxanne Kilgore of Jefferson early Friday morning.

A member of Kilgore's family reported that she had been taken to a local hospital by her 24-year-old son, Zachary Levi McDaniel, to be treated for a supposed medical condition.

Officers from the Marion County Sheriff's office and a few members of Kilgore's family checked with all surrounding medical facilities and were unable to locate any record of Kilgore seeking treatment.

The deputy responding to Kilgore's residence discovered a large amount of blood inside the home and let investigators know.

After an initial investigation, it was discovered that the evidence found at the home was not consistent with a medical condition.

At around 7:30 a.m., Kilgore's body was found inside an abandoned camper trailer in the woods north of the home.

Kilgore suffered apparent blunt force trauma injuries to her head.

McDaniel was arrested by officers on the scene and charged with murder. He is being held in the Marion County Jail on a $1 million bond.

As of now, police are unsure whether McDaniel lived with Kilgore and her husband, or in a rented RV near the residence.

Other members of Kilgore's family said that Kilgore and her son had a recent disagreement regarding his desire to move his girlfriend into their residence.

Kilgore's body is being sent to Dallas for an autopsy. The Texas Rangers are helping with this investigation.
