Isaiah Cooper is on a mission to fly coast to coast across the United States.
At just 16, the Compton, CA native hopes that his journey is an inspiration to East Texas youth and Americans of all ages.
"Ya know, so flying through a cloud, a lot of people don't get the experience," Cooper said.
Prior to discovering aviation, Cooper struggled in school, However, after a trip to the Tomorrow Aeronautical Museum and Pilot School, the owner took Cooper under his wing and introduced him to Roger Azad, his future flight instructor.
"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for aviators to fly around the continent of America," his instructor said.
District One Congressional candidate Shirley McKellar heard about Isaiah's story and decided to reach out to him.
McKellar said that she "wanted the young students and the young folk in east Texas to see what this young man at the age of 16 was doing."
After his stop in Tyler, Cooper will fly over to Dallas and begin working his way up the central United States before heading east.
Inspiring everyone along the way.
