TYLER, Texas — The Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce says the blood supply for East Texas is critically low at this time.
The Chamber of Commerce is asking residents to donate when and where they can, as all blood types are currently needed.
There are four main blood types (A, B, O and AB) which are determined by the presence or absence of certain antigens on the surface of red blood cells. Individuals are also typed as either Rh+ or Rh- depending on the presence or absence of the most important red cell antigen in the Rh blood group.
