A 30-year-old Houston woman is in the hospital after being medivaced from a cruise ship by a Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 helicopter Thursday evening 10 miles east of Galveston.

The Carnival cruise ship Valor got in contact with Sector Houston- Galveston watchstanders and reported that a woman aboard the ship fell and suffered a head injury, and they requested medical assistance.

Aircrew arrived on the scene around 7 p.m. Thursday evening and hoisted the woman from the ship.

She is now in stable condition at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
