ANGELINA COUNTY — An East Texas man is behind bars after he reportedly tried to stab his father with a sword.

According to the Angelina County Sheriff's Office, on Sunday, around 9:40 a.m.. deputies responded to a home in the 1800 block of South Farm-to-Market Road 706 on reports of a disturbance between a father and son.

When officials arrived on scene, the son, identified as Jason Carrell Jones, 43, approached deputies and told them there had been an altercation the night before between he and his father and asked why his father wasn't arrested.

When authorities asked Jones why they were called to the home on Sunday, Jones stated there was no reason and that his father had called 911.

According to the ACSO, deputies spoke with Jones' father who said his son forced his way into the home and came into his room where he was getting dressed. Jones' father then stated his son drew a sword and swung it at him in an attempt to stab him.

Jones' father told law enforcement he tried to block the sword and ended up with a cut on the upper part of his arm.

Jones was booked into the Angelina County Jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon where he remains on $12,000 bond.
