Local vendors hosted a back to school bash to help kids in the area get ready for school.

This event featured many different items for kids, young adults and teachers.

This is the first year for the event. Event Chair Stephanie Hendrickson says it not only helps students but brings exposure to local companies.

She says the event had an impressive turnout, helping families save time and money.

“We want this to be a one stop shop to help families get all their supplies,” Hendrickson said. “Plus, this is a great way for local businesses to get their name out.”

Many of the parents we spoke to say they would rather support a local business than buy supplies from a chain store.

Local businesses also provide many unique items, you don't find in stores. Henderickson says this event was a success and wishes all the students a good school year.
