TATUM, Texas — Randi Woodley, the grandmother of the child at the center of the Tatum ISD dress code debate, was arrested Friday.
Woodley is charged with abandonment/child endangerment.
Woodley's arrest comes on the day she was expected to lead a protest against Tatum ISD.
The conflict between Woodley and the district stems from a confrontation over the length of her grandson's hair. Woodley says she was told her have her grandson's hair cut or face expulsion.
Woodley claims the hair code in the districts dress code is discriminatory and brought up the dress code at more than one meeting.
The boy was eventually expelled from the district.
She was also arrested Tuesday for interfering with a police officer's duty.
