Helping Haiti on 19now: An ETX couple reaches out to those in need

This East Texas couple is reaching out to help children by providing steady meals and dental care in Haiti.

TYLER — Tyler natives, Dr. Jared and Holly Shultz work with LiveBeyond to bring help to oppressed people in Thomazeau, Haiti.

LiveBeyond is a faith-based, humanitarian organization bringing medical and maternal health care, clean water, education, orphan care, community development and the gospel of Jesus Christ to Haiti.

Dr. Shultz is a dentist in Tyler who has been to Haiti twice with the organization, and during his second trip, he worked in the medical clinic with another dentist.

He said he saw many patients that experienced tooth pain caused by bad decay and infections, and he helped a non-profit program that gave children two meals a day.

Mrs. Shultz is a kindergarten teacher in Tyler who worked in LiveBeyond's Ke You Timon program whose goal is to teach children English.

She also worked with Johnny's Kids, a group that provides care and helps children with special needs.
