GREGG COUNTY — The Longview Police Department sent out a warning for locals after noticing several false reports and misinformation being widely shared on social media.
In a Facebook post, the department said that recently, many people have posted about incidents involving the targeting of children at local businesses.
Those incidents, in fact, did not happen and because of those false reports on social media, LPD is encouraging their community to make sure information is correct before "sharing" it on social media, "and adding to the rumor mill."
The department also stresses that when those reported incidents are verified with them, they will make sure to let people and local businesses know about them.
