ANGELINA COUNTY — Dmarcus Jamil Jiles was arrested after deputies say he tried robbing the Commercial Bank of Texas at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Kennard.

According to the Houston County Sheriff's Office, Jiles "made every effort to rob the bank from what [they] can tell."

In a Facebook post from the San Augustine County Sheriff's Department, the bank's employees saw a man outside, and when he approached the door, "something didn't look right."

Employees then said they hit an alarm while the suspect got into a white car and headed east on State Highway 7 toward Angelina County.

Authorities said Jiles is in custody at the Angelina County Jail with a "hold" from the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office on a warrant for Aggravated Robbery.

Reports said the separate incident in San Augustine County happened in April 2018.

Officials from the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office, the Texas Rangers and the FBI are investigating this case.
