Children are a Gift: Isaiah

Isaiah is ready to leave foster care.  He's an optimistic boy who believes he will get adopted.

This week’s CBS 19 Children are a Gift features a child who never imagined he would end up in foster care at the age of nine.  Two years later, he is now 11 and searching for a forever family who will provide him with love and a roof over his head.

Isaiah has a vibrant personality. He is an optimist who believes he will be adopted.

"I'm nice. I'm funny. I like to play outdoors and I like to do math," he said during an adventure at LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Grapevine.

Isaiah wants to build a solid foundation for himself, knowing it starts with a positive attitude.  He stays optimistic, even in the midst of uncertainty.

He was removed from his biological home two years ago and is currently under the care of Catholic Charities. He is living in one of their shelters.

"[It’s] pretty good, but sometimes sad," he said about his situation in foster care.

Because there is no foster home available for the 11-year-old, his desire for a permanent placement grows stronger every day.  He dreams about his forever family.

"I'm hoping they will take care of me. Nourish me. Give me a house to live in,” he said. “They give me a room and a bed to sleep in. I don't need anything more.”

In the future, Isaiah wants to make his adoptive parents proud and join the Secret Service. He wants a specific duty.

"Security guard for the president,” he shared.

This young man always perseveres and has great ambitions. However, it is his attitude that stands out the most.

"I think that somebody will adopt me," he acknowledged with a smile.
