SULPHUR SPRINGS — A suspect was arrested after authorities got a call from Sulphur Springs Middle school about a man seen in the area of the school wearing all camouflage, including face paint at around 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
According to the Sulphur Springs Police Department, officers responded to the school and immediately set up a perimeter and placed more officers inside the school.
Later on after police started to check the immediate area, the suspect was found walking on Highway 19 south at the city limits.
When contact was made with the suspect, police saw that he was dressed in all camouflage and had a camouflage facemask and a machete.
After officers continued their investigation, they learned that the individual had never been on school property.
Officers also found out that the suspect was under the influence of drugs and was arrested for Public Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct.
The school was placed on lockdown as a precaution until officers could find him.
