KILGORE — Some Kilgore kiddos are kicking and splashing elsewhere, after the city announced the pool will be closed all summer due to repairs being unfinished.
Kilgore College partnered with the city and is offering up its facility, including an Olympic-sized pool and fitness center
Spokesperson for the college, Chris Craddock, said the partnership was an easy solution. The school stepped up after realizing city pool repairs were not going to be finished in time.
"[The pool closing] created a bit of a problem, because of the numerous swim lessons," he said. "Students, kids in this area need to learn how to swim. With all the lakes, it's vital for students in this area to learn how to swim."
Lesson will go on for the next six weeks, and all children are welcome.
Craddock said no child will be turned down lessons. If a family cannot afford swim lessons, there are scholarships available from the city.
