The day after the busiest shopping day of the year, small business owners across downtown Tyler welcomed customers and reminded them to shop small this holiday season.

"We are a community driven store," said Aristo Rodridguez, owner of El Guapo Records on Broadway in downtown Tyler.

He said that his shop thrives on the support from locals who stop by year round to check out his unique vinyal records and other items.

"We are about a year ahead of schedule. This wasn't supposed to happen," Rodriguez said.

El Guapo Records is just one of 14 business that participated in "Shop Small Business Saturday" which is designed to encourage shoppers to stay local with their holiday spending.
