KILGORE, Texas — The Kilgore Police Department is investigating a double homicide that happened Wednesday afternoon at Stone Creek Apartments.
According to the KPD, officers responded to the scene at about 3 p.m. and found both women dead on the scene.
"It was blood all over the floor, puddles, balls. Everywhere,” a witness, who says she was among the first on the scene told CBS19, said.
Officers arrested a man about two blocks away from the scene. Police say there is no additional threat to the community.
Police have not released the name of the suspect or the victims.
The witness says she spoke to one of the victims the same day. Because she did not receive a response, she went to the home of one of the victims.
"We went upstairs, and there was blood on the steps, you know, at the door and on the steps,” the witness said. “The landlord, or the, you know, the maintenance [man], he came in [and opened] the door and let us, he let us in.”
The scene was active for several hours as investigators searched for evidence.
The Longview Police Department Crime Scene Unit and Gregg County District Attorney Tom Watson also responded to the scene.
The witness told CBS19 the man she believes to be the suspect has a prior criminal history.
CBS19 will continue to follow this story as more information is made available.
