Sylvia Mae's Soul Food serves free Thanksgiving meals to community

For the third year in a row, Sylvia Mae's Soul Food treated the community with free meals.

JACKSONVILLE, Texas — This Thanksgiving Day, for the third year in a row, Sylvia Mae's Soul Food treated the community with free meals.

"I feel we are apart, and the only way to do it is somebody got to make a difference by inviting people. Let's do some things together," Sylvia Jones, owner of Sylvia Mae's Soul Food said.

Dozens of people came by the restaurant to celebrate and for Jones, bringing everyone together is what the holiday is all about.

"When people come in my restaurant they are treated like my family so a part of my family as well," Jones said.

Those who stopped by the restaurant weren't the only ones who enjoyed a fresh meal. For the people who weren't able to make it, Sylvia Mae's delivered meals straight to them.

"It means everything to me, it makes you feel like there's a purpose. There's real love and hope and peace," Jones said.

Sylvia Mae's Soul Food is located at 564 North Main Street in Jacksonville.
