TYLER, Texas — Friday marked the opening of the 2020 East Texas Auto & Cycle Show.

The event features a lineup of classic and cutting edge motor vehicles, in addition to some surprises. It also serves as a fundraiser for the East Texas Crisis Center.

Walk into the Tyler Harvey Convention Center this weekend, and you will find a large collection of exotic, classic and high performance vehicles.

However, towards the back of the main show room, one thing catches the eye: The Batmobile. Not just any Batmobile, but the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman film starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson.

“This is the car from that movie,” explained ETCC Director Lana Peacock, “And we brought it in. We like to have something for children of all ages. And we really have gotten a great response from adults. I mean, all week long wherever we've been we've been talking about this event and the show and bringing in. The Batmobile, and we just get a really good response for that.”

Not only is the comic book car quite an attraction, it will also help raise money for a good cause.

“All the proceeds benefit the East Texas crisis center, our emergency shelter for women and their children who have been impacted by violence or abuse,” Peacock said.

Hours for the East Texas Auto & Cycle show are Saturday 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
